The Conservatory holds ‘LIVE’ auditions from January to March 2009 in Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and New Zealand. Candidates who do not reside in Singapore or close to an audition centre may submit a DVD recording of their audition pieces to the Conservatory. CD recordings will not be accepted by the Admissions Office.

Composition
Composition applicants are required to submit a portfolio of 3-5 original scores written for different combinations of instruments/voices (for example, piano trios, strings quartets, large ensembles, etc.). Submission of recordings on compact disc is greatly encouraged. Please note that music arrangements or popular genres will not be considered and application materials and scores will not be returned to applicants.
Applicants residing in Singapore who meet the audition requirements will be shortlisted for an interview during the audition week. At the interview, applicants should be able to discuss their influences and musical interests in relation to the field of composition. International applicants may be contacted via telephone for the interview.

Piano
Applicants are required to perform one selection from each of the following five groups:
- One virtuoso Etude by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Scriabin, Bartok, Stravinsky, Moszkowski, Prokofiev, Ligeti or Bolcom.
- Any Prelude & Fugue chosen from the Well Tempered Clavier by J.S. Bach.. (Other types of Bach works and those Preludes and Fugues not included in the WTC are not permitted.)
- A complete Sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, or Clementi
- A major work from the Romantic period
- A representative work from the 20th century to the present. (Pop, Rock, Broadway or Jazz not permitted.)
No exceptions or substitutions will be permitted for the above requirements.
Applicants should also make note of the following:
- All audition repertoire must be performed from memory.
- No concerti or transcriptions are permitted.
- The examination may also include sight-reading of a short musical excerpt.
Repertoire validation list: Each applicant must submit a list of works he/she has studied within the last three years to the audition panel.
