Awards galore as NUS IT recognised for leadership, innovation and service excellence
In recognition of NUS' efforts to embrace AI-driven initiatives such as AI-Know, a centralised platform offering a suite of tools to empower staff and improve productivity, NUS Information Technology (NUS IT) earned five prestigious awards celebrating its leadership, innovation, and commitment to service excellence.
Bringing an innovative virtual experience to NUS visitors
NUS welcomes a diverse array of local and international visitors, including schools, private groups, corporations and foreign government entities interested to learn more about the university. Innovative strategies were developed by departments to accommodate the increasing number of visitors and ensure a meaningful experience.
NUS Admin Excellence Awards 2024: Celebrating dedication and innovation
Smiles and applause resounded at the NUS Admin Excellence Awards 2024 held on 23 October 2024, as over 150 attendees gathered onsite at the University Hall Atrium, along with a livestream audience, to celebrate the remarkable contributions and achievements of administrators and their teams at the University. This annual event, now in its second year, marks NUS’ commitment to honour the recipients whose efforts have brought significant positive impact to the University’s operations, and the wider NUS community as well.
Unlocking AI in NUS at DE’Hackathon 2024
DE’Hackathon returned for a second edition, themed “Unlocking AI in NUS”. Organised by NUS IT, the hackathon was designed to foster creativity and innovation among NUS staff, and encourage cross-departmental collaboration to develop new, innovative solutions using Digital Enablement (DE) tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to address real-life challenges and transform work processes.
NUS wins WSH CARE Award for exemplary mental well-being practices
NUS was among 19 organisations recognised at the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Awards 2024 on 30 July 2024 under the Culture of Acceptance, Respect and Empathy (CARE) Award Category, for their exemplary mental wellbeing practices. The award acknowledges the remarkable achievements and contributions of the individual teams across various disciplines; and emphasises the significance of cross-functional collaboration in promoting a comprehensive approach to safety, health and wellness within NUS.

Rounding up the year on the courts with NUS STARS 2023 Sports Extravaganza
The NUS STARS (Staff Talent in Athletics and Recreational Sports) programme was launched in July this year by the Office of Human Resources (OHR), to promote an active lifestyle through competitive sports and reignite the sporting spirit amongst NUS staff. Basketball and badminton tournaments were held in early November and over 150 staff members from various academic, research and administrative departments participated in the games.
Leading the charge at Campus Security Operations
Keeping us safe on NUS Campuses is a round-the-clock affair and Teenesh S/O Thanabalan, Security Operations Manager, Campus Emergency and Security (CES) has been up for the task since joining the University a year ago. To the end of facilitating effective internal communications to keep NUS Libraries running smoothly, NUS Libraries set up a channel that acts as a repository for important library-wide documents, a platform for important announcements and university circulars, and a space for community engagement.
